The steep Appalachian foothills are not attractive to farmers, but Texas Longhorns love their home at DCCI.
DCCI pastures are 50% leguminous and create great hay. The pastures which aren't grazed are bailed.
The old Griffin Stone house still has some full standing walls. This old stage stop was built over 200 years ago. Some of the beautiful hand formed sand stones are used on the DCCI front entry gate. A beaver dam has caused lake water to back up to the stone house foundation further weakening it. The beavers are being transported to help at a hat factory this Spring.
