Silk Worm

Silk Worm 11355

SILK WORM ~ was a daughter of Silky Fox which my dad Frank Dickinson owned his entire life. (The life story of Silky Fox is in the eBook sold by Amazon "FILLET OF HORN II" chapter "THE BURIALS OF SILK FOX") Silk Worm's dam was an all Shoemaker mare, Maiden who was out of Sailors Maiden by Sailor Cue. Sailors Maiden also produced Silk Stuff who was campaigned by Kiekaefers of Arizona accumulating hundreds of AQHA points.

This shot is Lynn Anderson, Grammy Award Winner (I Didn't Promise You A Rose Garden) on Silk Worm at the All American QH Congress. She is winning the pleasure in this photo.

We owned Silk Worm, her dam and grand dam. She was born in 1971. When Silk Worm was about a year old she slid into a barb wire fence and sliced her left forearm nearly to the center. Dr. Gary McIntyre of Air Way Vet Clinic in Colorado Springs did a masterful surgery job sewing her back together. All her life there was a white hair speckled area around the scare. Some thought she was born with a typical Shoemaker white spot and I had it 'nearly' removed, but not so. She drug her left front leg for months and slowly had a complete perfect recovery.

Lynn Anderson and Silk Worm were a well oiled machine; a work of art in the arena. Over the years with Lynn, the pair accumulated 134 AQHA halter points, 558 Performance points and was a source of great joy for Lynn. Lynn loved this mare with her whole heart. Every so often in the years during the Silk Worm campaigning, Lynn would call me or Dad and give us a full report. Dad loved Country Music and for Lynn to call him was a joy of his life. We heard all about it for months.
