Count Veto

Count Veto - born 1973.  Sire: Skips Count by Skippers King. Dam: Vetolette by Show Cash.

Count Veto was born as a series of long-shot efforts, failed attempts, a dream plan, and finally the DNA all fell together and here he was. Count Veto was born at our place near Calhan, Colorado to the old grandma bronc mare Vetolette.  She didn't want to be pregnant and she didn't want to raise anymore family. She just wanted to eat well and be left alone. Previous bios have recorded the acquisition of Skips Count from California and Vetolette from Abilene, Texas. Also the World, Congress, Chicago, Omaha Champion Skips Veto, the great performance and halter gelding. After Count Veto was weaned he went to Wayne Jordan, then at Elk Horn, Nebraska. Wayne and I were partners on him and his dam. My job was to get him on earth and Wayne's job was to put some professional skills in his head and on the record books. This photo was taken just north of Elk Horn with Count Veto and Wayne Jordan. In the photo he was not mature but showing the smoothness of a soon-to-be very fine piece of horse flesh. I won't say he was better than Skips Veto or Skipa Star, but he had a strong image about half way between the two of them with the smallest little ears you ever saw.

He was campaigned by Wayne and was a lot of fun.  He was quickly an AQHA Champion, Performance ROM, Superior Western Pleasure, led AQHA in Team Roping points, with a total of nearly 200 accumulative AQHA points. He turned out to be what we had hoped he would. He continued to do a good job with a life total of 96 AQHA registered foals. Wayne sold him for a nice chunk and we both lived happily ever after.
