Sure Cash

Sure Cash 11439

About 1960 J. B. Ferguson had me come to his place near Houston, TX to photograph Sure Cash. This stallion shown earlier by Wiescamp had won  major Grand Championships at Denver, Fort Worth and Albuquerque. He was well above the competition and virtually unbeatable. When I saw  him for the first time I was certain he was the most totally correct  conformation I had ever seen. He was thick enough, correct enough, tall enough and the brightest golden palomino color with the tiny Wiescamp ears a baby's hand could cover one up.

Sure Cash is a Palomino American Quarter Horse Stallion born 1954. Sired by Spot Cash, by Skipper W, out of the mare Stepaway. Bred by H. J. Wiescamp, Alamosa, CO. and owned by J. B. Ferguson, TX.  Sure Cash is line-bred to the following horses: Nick Shoemaker, and Nick.

Interesting, Mr. Ferguson also owned Top Deck who captured most of his fancy. Sure Cash was one of the prettiest stallions ever and Top Deck was  a great runner and racing sire, but ugly as home made soap. A combination not often one stall apart.

Sure Cash was easy to photograph from any direction. When I flew to places back then I was age 18 and all the planes had propellers.
