Johnny Jones

Texas Longhorn Cattle and fast horses have always been the love-of-life for Johnny T L Jones Jr since the early cotton patches of Quanah, Texas.  His career spans the high dollar racing industry of the USA, the Mediterranean Theatre, England, Brazil, Kentucky and all parts where fast horses gather.

Mile MarkerHis first move into the Texas Longhorn industry involved purchasing a truck load of select cattle from Dickinson Cattle Co Inc, then located at Calhan, Colorado.  His first sire selection at that time was Don Abraham by Don Quixote.  Later he purchased Bail Jumper who was World Champion Get of Sire numerous times and sired several World Champions.  His current herd sire is Mile Marker who is making a serious name for the Jones enterprises siring great exhibition steers and a recent ITLA Championship show winning son named Resistol.
OchoaJohnny again made print by winning the richest horse race in history, the All American Futurity ($2,400,000.00) at Ruidoso, New Mexico. He purchased Ochoa, the winning runner for $25,000 and sold interests to several of his rancher friends
In one of the most impressive performances in recent history, Ochoa drew clear to a decisive 1 ½-length victory. The fastest qualifier, and 8-5 favorite, took command about halfway through the race and was never threatened before hitting the wire in :21.058 for 440 yards.
Congratulations to the Ochoa group, and Johnny T L Jones Jr for this, another of many competitive victories. Check out the YouTube, with the famous race and interviews from the winner's circle.
