Meet Betty Zane
Meet the extreme cow -- BETTY ZANE. She just sold for $20,500 in the Hudson/Valentine sale from Hoosier Longhorns (the Jones Family) to G & G Longhorns, (the Gravette Family.) At the tender age of under three years, she just did for her owners what great cattle do -- made a profit. And, she isn't through; G & G has her priced for $40,000 and are looking to double their money again. With her horn spread at this early age and being sired by the famous DCCI bull DRAG IRON, it would not be unusual that she sells for $40,000 and then sells in future years for two or three times that much. Great cattle are profitable. That is what separates the great ones from plain-normal hamburger cattle.
The rest of the story of BETTY ZANE is equally interesting. Profitable cattle must be mated, born, raised, planned, and genetically designed by someone. (Only barn cats control their own destiny.)
BETTY ZANE'S dam was Super Zing by Superb by Super Bowl. Her dam Ga Zing was a half sister to Winchester. Super Zing was born 5-5-2007 at Dickinson Cattle Company Inc, (DCCI) priced for sale at $1500, and purchased by Hooser Longhorns of Indiana. At the request of Hoosiers, she remained at Dickinson Cattle Company and was bred for her first calf to a young bull -- DRAG IRON. Beyond that the rest is history.
