The senior sire CLEAR POINT, at Dickinson Cattle Co of Barnesville, Ohio, passed away on 4-2-18. His complete necropsy was preformed by ranch veterinarian Dr. Harold M. Kemp DVM promptly after Clear Point's passing.
The Necropsy report stated: Heart muscle off colored: no other gross lesions on post mortum, except lungs have some emphysema. Heart dissected -- tricuspid valve thickened, and adjacent myocardium off colored and firm. DX. Vegetative endocarditis w/myocardial infarction.
In layman's terms, the heart was normal size, a bacterial blood infection caused a thickening of the upper heart valve tissue causing a rare erratic cardiac arrest from valve hardening and closure. Tests revealed it not communicable.
At the time of his passing Clear Point measured 91.25" T2T and weighed 2245 lbs. He has won 13 horn measuring championships. Although only a minimal semen inventory was in stock at his passing most straws will be used by DCC. A small amount of real semen will be available for IVF at $500 per straw.
Clear Point was chosen as the favored son of Clear Win to carry on the thick muscle, extreme horn and great substance. His progeny, both sons and daughters are showing excellent horn and body size, a combination not easily found in the breed.
When a great sire passes the progeny produce on through frozen semen use. Several Clear Point sons are being considered for future service at DCC. Those who bought his semen will enjoy profiting from this unique genetic bundle. DCC owner Joel Dickinson said, "It is excruciating to suffer the loss of this great of a bull, but not near as bad as the hurt from genetic loss of never having had him exist at all." A special memorial stone will be carved for the DCC Memorial Yard and placed beside those other great sires who went before him at DCC, Over Kill and The Shadow. Please, no gifts, flowers, sponsorships or cards.
