You've heard of cat yoga, bunny yoga, pig racing, and even goat cuddling. In our church we have an "anxiety-dog" who comes totally dressed, with a parishioner, to keep her master calm and relaxed during lengthy sermons.
But what about the latest wellness fad being evaluated by Dickinson Cattle Co, of Longhorn cuddling?
Research is being conducted indicating that cuddling gives ranch-animal lovers a unique opportunity that can bring relaxation, respect for others, assist in eliminating of I-pad addictions, healing, awareness about your body language, mindfulness, build assertiveness, help with overcoming fear, build confidence, lets you be playful and teaches you to set boundaries.
The experience may be custom-tailored to whatever you'd like, and Texas Longhorns are genuinely good cuddle buddies because of their sensitive, intuitive nature, especially when cow candy is their greatest desire.
Cows have a body temperature that is slightly higher than humans and their heart rate is lower than ours. Cuddling up with a Longhorn, sensing that lower heart rate, actually touching the fur, and the higher body temperature, are all very fulfilling.
During the proposed 90-minute session (which costs $100 for three people), you can pet the Longhorns, brush them, lead them, play with them and, of course, cuddle with them. Sessions are facilitated by a bovine cow-hand specialist and a yet-to-be licensed counselor.
If per chance the "cuddle experience" is a little too intimate, daily tours of Dickinson Cattle Co by appointment for 10 or more people may be arranged. Although the in-depth cuddle experience during a bus tour is limited to only hand feeding Longhorns from the bus windows (totally safe) the cost is a real bargain at $12 for adults.
